Utkal to Complete Expansion in 20 Months to
Produce 500 kilo tonne of Alumina

As per the reports in the media, Hindalco’s subsidiary Utkal Alumina International will complete its 500-kilotonne expansion project, entailing a capital expenditure of Rs. 1300 crore, in next 30 months.

As per the reports, Hindalco Managing Director Satish Pai has stated that the company’s Utkal plant has been one of the most efficient alumina producer globally and provides support to the company’s upstream business.

The expansion work on the plant has already been started and will be working on completing the project expeditiously as alumina market is expected to stay tight in the medium term.

The company may also consider brownfield expansion at Aditya or Mahan if the coal mines for the company become more productive and they get adequate supplies from them, Pai indicated.
