On Monday, Copper prices traded up by Rs 1.35 at Rs 437.50 per kg in futures trade on pick-up in spot demand.
Higher prices of the metal in the global market also strengthened the sentiment, traders said.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for September delivery traded higher by Rs 1.35, or 0.31%, to Rs 437.50 per kg in a business turnover lots of 47.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October edged up by Rs 1.60, or 0.36%, to Rs 443.35 per kg in 2,929 lots.
Globally, the metal was trading higher by 0.79% at $5,767 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
Zinc prices rose 0.17% to Rs 179.55 per kg in futures market on Monday as traders built up fresh positions amid increase in spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September traded higher by 30 paise, or 0.17%, to Rs 179.55 per kg in a business turnover of 39 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October edged up by 10 paise, or 0.05%, to Rs 182.40 per kg in 1,746 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions created by participants on the back of rise in demand from consuming industries mainly attributed to gain in zinc prices.
